Hi, my name is Janis Brand and I am a Green Badge Guide. I have been guiding in Lewis and Harris since 2015 and love introducing people to the beauty of the landscape and history of the Western Isles.
I came to Lewis in 1989 to teach French and later Spanish in the Nicolson Institute ( the high School in Lewis) after teaching English in a school in Peru for seven years.
Since I retired from teaching I have completed a BA in Gaelic-Language and Culture at the University of the Highlands and Islands. This has helped me to learn even more about the fascinating history of the islands from neolithic times up and I really enjoy sharing this with our visitors.
