About WITGA

Travelling in a location with more than one  identity exposes the expected and the unexpected. Whether you know these islands as nan Eilean Siar or the Western Isles or the Outer Hebrides, they offer a myriad of options to uncover.

In the mid-1990s, there was a move initiated by Marlene MacLeod of Western Isles Enterprise and supported by the Pier & Harbour Commission to create a professional guiding service.

Our late colleague Joan Morrison was amongst the first batch of Western Isles students trained by the Scottish Tourist Guide Association (the national authority) to the internationally recognised qualification of Green Badge.

Our Services

Since 1997 guides have been providing interpretation for shore excursion companies, coach tours and leading walking tours in the Outer Hebrides.
WITGA guides promote a positive impact on the environment, society, and economy of the Outer Hebrides.
