I love the wide Lewis landscape, history and culture, and I can offer you a window on traditional and modern life on this peaceful Hebridean island. As an experienced forager of fungi and plants, I can help you explore the nature of the island, its plants, animals and fungi, and tell you about their traditional uses and folklore. I also work at the Museum nan Eilean in Stornoway, and can introduce you to the fascinating history and prehistory of the island going back to the last ice age. Having settled on Lewis 14 years previously, I am an enthusiastic learner of Gaelic, and can teach you some simple everyday phrases to help you in your stay, or even a song or two! When not working, I like to spend time on our family croft. I can talk to you about crofting and its history, and share insights into life more generally on this beautiful island I have made my home.
