New Point Tour: Ui Church Eaglais na h-Aoidh

Western Isles Tour Guide Association have been planning new tours as part of the group’s Sustainable Tourism Policy. The new tour in the Point district will commence with a visit to the Ui Church Eaglais na h-Aoidh. The 14th Century building is unique in that the original architecture is remarkably complete and has not been modified, unlike other monuments of this era. The surrounding graveyard contains monuments of national importance and is thought to be the last resting place of at least 18 chiefs of the Clan MacLeod.

Urras Eaglais na H-Aoidh volunteers outlined with enthusiasm, their plan for sharing their knowledge to visitors on a Point Tour. Urras Eaglais na h-Aoidh have a number of publications which are now available as downloads on their website https://uichurch.co.uk/shop/ . WITGA look forward to working with the volunteers who are dedicating their time to preserve traces of the Celtic Church and aspects of Clan history in the Hebrides.
