Muriel is a native Hebridean islander, teacher in the local secondary school and crofter, with an MA in anthropology. She grew up in a Gaelic-speaking home with a mix of Scottish, Irish, Norwegian and Icelandic DNA, and her area of specific interest lies in the Norse heritage of the Hebrides. When she is not working, she loves being at the ocean, swimming, surfing and sailing.
